‘Back-to-back trade’ Woori Card lets go of Song Hee-chae to sign OK Financial Group’s Song Myung-geun

OK Financial Group and Woori Card make a trade in the men’s professional volleyball league.

OK Financial Group announced on the 26th that it has agreed to a one-for-one trade with Woori Card, receiving outside hitter Song Hee-chae (31-190cm) and sending outside hitter Song Myung-geun (30-195cm). The Woori Card made another trade the day before, sending setter Hwang Seung-bin (31-183cm) to KB Insurance and receiving outside hitter Han Sung-jung (27-195cm).

With this trade, Song Hee-chae returns to her home team after nearly five years. Song Hee-chae was a founding member of the OK Financial Group, where she played for five seasons from 2013-2014 to 2017-2018안전놀이터.

With her steady receiving, defence and offence, Song helped OK Financial Group win back-to-back championships in 2015 and 2016. In the 2022-2023 season with Woori Card, she played in 31 games and 104 sets, ranking 10th in receiving percentage (36.42%) and helping the team reach the postseason with her strengths in defence and receiving.

Song Myung-geun is also a founding member of the OK Financial Group. Until the 2022-2023 season, he played nine seasons with OK Financial Group and made a strong impression, including being named MVP of the 2015 championship game. In the 2022-2023 season, after leaving the military, he played in 17 games and 53 sets, recording a 51.87 per cent attack success rate.

With this trade, OK Financial Group and Woori Card have filled a need in their respective teams. OK Financial Group added stability to their team with the addition of an outside hitter. Woori Card signed Song Myung-geun to fill the void left by Na Kyung-bok (KB Insurance), who left the team after last season.
